When traveling, it should be noted that when transiting through the Alpine countries (Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia), a vignette is compulsory on each of the freeways. The Italian freeways are not toll-free either, but the toll is charged individually for each section.<\/p>\n<p>For those arriving by train, Trieste is reached via the main train station\u00a0<em>Trieste Centrale.<\/em>\u00a0Unfortunately, there is no direct connection to Germany. For a trip from Munich Central Station to Trieste Centrale, for example, depending on the connection, 7 to 10 hours and several changes are to be planned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-348-2\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-348-2-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-348-2-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Arrival by plane<\/h3>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Trieste has at its disposal the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/4BjKb3Tjkd52\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aeroporto Friuli Venezia Giulia<\/a> has its own airport, but this regional airport is served by only a few airlines (less than 20 take-offs\/landings per day). The best way to reach Trieste by plane is therefore via the international <strong>Venice airport<\/strong> (VCE - Aeroporto Marco Polo di Venezia) with a subsequent bus or train transfer lasting about 2 hours. This sounds arduous, but the \"detour\" via Venice can be combined with a short stay in the famous lagoon city if you plan your trip accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bus connections to Trieste directly from Venice Airport<\/strong> you can find e.g. at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flixbus.de\/busverbindung\/fernbus-triest-venedig\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flixbus<\/a> (Prices depending on time and demand between 5\u20ac and 15\u20ac, duration of the bus ride about 2 hours).<\/p>\n<p>Who <strong>from Venice airport<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>by Italian train to Trieste<\/strong> to Venice airport, the first step is to board the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atvo.it\/index.php?lingua=de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Airport shuttle bus<\/a> to one of the two stations of Venice. The regional trains to Trieste, which usually run at least every hour, always call at both stations in Venice: Trains depart from the terminus station\u00a0<em>Venice Santa Lucia<\/em> (the city center station at the northern end of the Grand Canal), then cross the bridge to the mainland to the train station <em>Venezia Mestre<\/em> and from there on to Trieste in about 2 hours. The Italian high-speed trains <em>Frecciarossa<\/em> stop on the track <em>Milano - Trieste<\/em> only at the mainland station <em>Venezia Mestre<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The airport shuttle buses serve both stations. From the airport it is a little shorter, the shuttle bus to <em>Venezia Mestre<\/em> and board the train there. The way over <em>Venice Santa Lucia<\/em> is about 15 min longer, but depending on the arrival time of the plane, in both variants you reach the same train to Trieste.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-348-2-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-348-2-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-image
